John G. Porter, M.D. is one of the founding partners of The Physicians. He practices in our Marietta office. He received his undergraduate degree with honors in Biology from Colgate University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1978. He completed his internship and a two year residency in anesthesiology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at Emory University Medical School.
Dr. Porter received a Hyndman Fellowship for study of Tropical Medicine in London and clinical work in Calcutta. He is past clinical faculty for The Emory Department of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Porter was certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 1984, received Subspecialty Certification in Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology in 1994 and recertification in 2005.
